Kokomo Urban Outreach is a network of Churches, individuals and organizations who have a heart for hometown missions. One component of Kokomo Urban Outreach(KUO) is Church consultation. We help churches discern how to move outside the walls of the church into the neighborhood. Using a four-strand approach, . KUO staff will provide training and resources so that the church can be the hands and feet of Jesus in the community


Sidewalk is a children's outreach ministry in which Biblical principles are taught through scripture, stories, songs, prayer and games. An important part of Sidewalk is weekly home visitation . Sidewalk is geared toward children K-5. Presently there are four Sidewalks up and going in Kokomo with 2 more on the way.


 

Urban Impact's mission is to provide families with the tools they need to become self-sufficient. Urban Impact programs have included or will soon include:
  • Sewing classes that have turned into a small business
  • Lawn care services
  • Life skill classes
  • Health Classes ie stop smoking class
  • One on One home mentoring
  • Parenting classes
  • Adult Computer Classes
  • Preschool Computer Classes
  • Tutoring
  • Bikes to go to work

ArtReach provides mostly children who are less fortunate an opportunity to experience fine arts. ArtReach was piloted a couple of years ago and we are looking to develop it more fully. We plan to offer:

  • Guitar lessons
  • Dance lessons
  • Piano lessons
  • Art lessons
Our goal is to help children discover God-given talent, learn self-discipline and build self-esteem.

Project E.A.T. includes all of the food outreach programs:

  • Sunday Night Meals and Cook-outs
  • Buddy Bags (weekend food bags for elementary students)
  • Vacation lunches for children
  • Fourth Saturday breakfast
  • Food Pantry as well as new satellite pantries
  • Sunday Night grocery bags for children

Full Time Internship Details

  • All interns will work 40 hours per week and attend a weekly meeting, to complete a 8-12 week internship unit.
  • Interns will work with the Executive Director of KUO experiencing the different aspects of ministry.

Requirements

Start Date: This ministry is tailored to the individual, you may start any time you can commit to six-twelve weeks.

Weekly Time Commitment: 40 hours in actual ministry

Be present in worship the majority of the time.

Stipend: A small weekly stipend will be given.

Time Commitment: Expect to work 40 hours per week usually working 5 days with two days off. Preferred work week is Wednesday-Sunday however, this is flexible and can be negotiated even on a week to week basis. Generally, the work day is not a straight 8 hour day. There may be needs in the morning and then in the evening. Occasionally there may be more than 8 hours needed in one day. If work teams arrive during internship, schedule will need to be flexible
